A target simulator is designed to reproduce vehicle speed in order to control metrological characteristics of the doppler radar speed measuring devices (sensors), operating in frequency range from 76 to 81 GHz.
The simulator imitates the signal of the moving vehicle with the specified parameters (vehicle speed from 1 to 400 km/h, distance to it and vehicle direction). Imitation of the moving vehicle is carried out by generating doppler frequencies by the target simulator in the W-range.
The module is produced in climatic version UHL 4, placement category 3 according to GOST 15150.
The simulator`s construction excludes the possibility of unauthorized influence on the simulator software and on the measurement information (in accordance with R 50.2.077-2014, paragraph 4.3). The software protection level is ‘low’ according to R 50.2.077-2014.
The operating principle of the simulator is to reproduce a radar target with specified motion parameters and an effective scattering area by re-emitting signals received from the speed measuring device. The change in the amplitude or phase of the re-emitted signals is proportional to the simulated distance to the target, and the inserted frequency shift in accordance with the Doppler effect is proportional to the simulated target speed
The simulator doesn`t have any controls or indication and is designed to work with an external computer.
The simulator consists of:
- The main block (control board, heterodyne oscillator, receiving and transmitting microwave paths, phase modulator, Ethernet module)
- A Frequency converter
- Horn antennas (transmitting and receiving)
- Several phase-stable cables, designed for node switching, management cables (for synchronization and power supply)
- SmartRoadSim Software (running under Windows 10 operating system)
Smartroadsim software carries out the following tasks:
